SANDOWN LAKESIDE R1 #12 STARELLE $2.75

This filly ran well on debut when running 2nd behind Aidensfield. Aidensfield had already shown good ability at the races when winning at Caulfield on debut. She looks to have come back well after the spell, recently jumping out well with a few good gallopers, including Montia and Rapidora. Oliver keeps the ride which looks a good guide for her chances. Have a couple dollars on her in the futures markets for the VRC oaks.

SANDOWN LAKESIDE R3 #1 SHOTMAKER $2.30

Finally broke through last start and did so in style. He won by 2L and the jockey was fairly kind to him over the concluding stages. Should improve second up and looks to have some upside.

CANTERBURY R1 #4  ARGENTEUS $3.85

The stable obviously had a decent opinion of him. He only contested group races last preparation and ran okay first up, running 5th but in a blanket finish over the line and he closed off in the fastest last 200m of the race.

CANTERBURY R2 #6 BIG ANGEL $7.10 #8 WAAFIYA $8.00

I liked the way Big Angel picked up when asked for a little effort when finishing 4th in her most recent trial. She looks to me like she will get up over more ground but 1200m is a fair starting point. I thought Waafiya would run well last start after finishing alongside Tiny at the previous start. Tiny subsequently franked the form. She was disappointing but prepared to give her another chance.

CANTERBURY R4 #6 INSTANT ATTRACTION $3.60

This mare ran 2nd behind Dirty Work at her second start. Dirty work has subsequently won a listed race. She then beat Electric Girl when breaking her maiden status, Electric Girl has since franked the form by winning four races. The two trials should see her fit enough to be competitive first up here.

CANTERBURY R5 #6 HULK $5.50

I know he does not have the best winning record, but I was still impressed with the recent trial. He went to the line matching motors with Masked Crusader and we know he is pretty smart.
