CANBERRA R2 #6  WAAFFIYA $1.90

This filly found herself towards the tail on debut when jumping from a wide barrier. She made a run down the straight with Tiny and finished alongside that galloper as they crossed the finishing line. Tiny has since franked the form by winning at Canterbury. The 8th placed Embeller has just won too as I write this. This filly should win.

CANBERRA R5 #4  KOWLOON TREASURE $3.45

This son of Stratum should be well educated now with six trials now under the belt. He has trialled in decent company on a few occasions and recently went around in a trial behind Absolute Legend. He was asked to find late but did so under some riding and put a margin on Crosscheck who has form around Nishka.

TAMWORTH R1 #9  BOBBY’S GIFT $3.65   #11  EVERY LAST PENNY $6.20

I thought running 3rd behind Rambler Rebel in a trial is not bad for a weak maiden. Bon Vavont finished 4th and was niggled at in the straight and he has already proven better than maiden grade. EVERY LAST PENNY trialled well enough when running 2nd behind the undefeated Fender who is three from three and won a highway last start.

TAMWORTH R3 #7 SPIRANAC $7.20  ROUGHIE  #16 THOUSAND ISLAND $22.50

SPIRANAC was good enough first up at Scone when running 4th after a long spell. She will strip much fitter and I think the winner Pinnacle Prince might be pretty handy. THOUSAND ISLAND was narrowly beaten on debut and has struggled a bit since. Did a bit of work early last start and was entitled to feel the pinch late. Resumes here after a decent spell and may race better fresh. If #15 FIGHTFORYOURRIGHT runs, I will be having a small saver, few gear changes and can improve back on a dry track.

IPSWICH R3 #7 NEXT DIMENSION  $2.10 #8  TIM’S LANE $13.20

NEXT DIMENSION is an Ex Hawkes horse who was showing a bit at the jump-outs when under their care. He has recently trialled well, winning a trial at the Gold Coast. TIM’S LANE was given a good hit out in his last trial, but he was against gallopers that are better than maiden grade, including Gracie Belle who won a Country Championship last start.

BALLARAT R1 #7 THE DUKE OF HAZARD $2.10

Did not have much luck on debut when held up at the top of the straight. Only found one better last start and this is much weaker. Will be very shocked if he does not break through.

ROUGHIE

BALLARAT R2 #7 THE DREAMER $32.00

Jumped out well on a few occasions last preparation but was then disappointing on debut. She showed good natural speed to lead but was fairly weak late. The winner of that race La Chevalee turned out to be fairly handy and this mare has been given plenty of time to improve.

BALLARAT R3 #8 NIGHTFIRE $2.75

Found the line really well on debut against a few I think go well. Extra 100m here will help and should be hitting the line well again. #2 BEAU ROCK is the one that looks over the odds, was not asked for an effort behind Raazou at the Flemington jump-outs.

BALLARAT R4 #1 COMPARDY  $4.20 BEST ROUGHIE #18  FAST ‘N’ DEEP $43.00

I thought Compardy would have won a maiden by now. Been very disappointing but there is ability there. FAST ‘N’ DEEP looks the value and is a very interesting name. This mare jumped out well before the debut at Mornington. She was wide there at Mornington and has since been back to the jump-outs and was given a good hit out to beat Cape Etoile.
