ECHUCA R2 #8 MISS KINGSTON $4.05 #11 SOMETHING GROUND $5.50
Miss Kingston was okay on debut when running 3rd behind Incredulous Dream at Bendigo. She then looked to improve when running 2nd behind a handy one called Montia at The Valley. Monita was then only beaten 1.6L in listed company at her following start. This filly has been given plenty of time to improve. SOMETHING GROUND ran very well on debut after catching the eye at the jump-outs. She closed off very nicely at Moonee Valley and will appreciate the extra 100m here. Hard to beat.
This daughter of So You Think looks to have a future. I liked the way she finished off in a recent Ballarat jump-out against a few horses who have won races, including Elite Tiger and Laughing Joe. She will no doubt improve as she steps up in distance but can be competitive on debut. GOOD AND PROPER was okay on debut at Werribee in a race that many did not make ground. The winner went on to win again when stepping up in grade. She then had an excuse at Pakenham when being hampered by another runner at the 400m mark. Back on to turf can be a big improver. Including #9 Loco Mojo In exotics.
ECHUCA R4 #8 TOKARA HABU $6.60
Small play on this son of Golden Snake. I did not think the St Arnaud jump-out was much to look at, but the recent Ballarat jump-out did catch my eye. He beat Number one Star who is a recent benchmark 58 winner. It was heavy fog, so the vision is tough to see and was only viewable late, hence the small play.
I thought this grey gelding ran ok first up for the new stable. He looked to make some ground late after the winning post and looks suited stepping up to 1400m. MISS MEILLAND was only collared in the shadows of the post when first up at Wangaratta. Will be fitter for the run and can win a maiden.
He trialled well before the debut, splitting Catadude and Sansom. He then ran well enough on debut when running 3rd, the 2nd placed horse Legend of Zorro goes well and the 7th placed horse Uno Veloce has since won by 2L. QUINTUS gets one more chance at big odds. I think he has some ability but for whatever reason has not shown it race day yet. The jockeys described the track as a bit loose and shifty at Seymour so it may have been an excuse.
SAPPHIRE COAST R1 #4 DUCK GOLD $4.45
I thought this mare trialled well at Moruya before her debut. She won the trial beating Rapture Miss who has won four races. She has had a big break and deserves another chance. Next best for exotics #3 Zero Alfa and #9 The Tapster.
SAPPHIRE COAST R6 #5 SIFU $2.60
She went really well on debut at Canberra when running 2nd to Turfeze. Was then disappointing last start when running 6th as the fav but did get worked up pre-race and deserves another chance.
