CANBERRA R3 #5  BIZ MO  $9.30 #1 ANTONIO $5.30

This colt was fairly poor on debut at Pakenham, but he has been given time to improve since that run. I thought he showed a bit of improvement from the first trial this preparation into the second trial. He was not asked for much of an effort behind a few that I think are above average in that second trial. ANTONIO comes out of a few fast run races and was taken on in the lead when first up, will be fitter for the run and can be in it for a long way.

CANBERRA R4 #1 AWAKINO $2.45

I thought this grey colt looked to have some style about him when running 3rd behind Hurt Money at the Randwick trials. He closed off nicely and looked like he would be a horse who would appreciate getting over some ground. He then finished strongly again behind Yardstick in the next trial, that galloper has since won on debut. The 1200m looks perfect for him to kick off his career.

TAMWORTH R1 #3 DANCING DOLLAR $2.40

I expected this filly to be hard to beat first up after she trialled under a hold behind subsequent winner Pinnacle Prince. She was a bit unlucky there at Scone, she covered a bit of ground out wide and the eventual winner had a charmed run, sitting on the back of the field and was able to pounce in the straight. This filly had the rest covered and I will be diving in again to try get some of that cash back I lost last start. #8 CONFINEMENT there would be no shock to see this filly win, I am sure the ability is there to definitely win a maiden, but she has had enough of my cash for now.

ROUGHIE

TAMWORTH R2 #6  SWAYSIR $18.20

I thought he was a chance at big odds first up this preparation. He was restrained early though and not much looked to make ground on the leader and eventual winner Zanshin. He was still strong enough through the line and I think he trialled better than the current fav Peroxide Blonde when they met in a trial. #8 Fight for Love and #5 Sky Touch can go into exotics.

SWAN HILL R1 #8  SIMON SAYS $7.10

Had to wait a while for this gelding to make his debut. He caught my eye when jumping out at Stawell last year and matching motors with a few that are above average, including Knock Knock and Kapaulenko. He will be better over further by the looks and being a son of Rebel Raider, but 1200m looks enough ground to be a winning chance on debut. Going wide with exotics and boxing #1,4,5,8,11.

SWAN HILL R2 #3 COMPARDY $2.05

Think he should win today. He ran ok first up but was collared late by a few that go well, the winner Just Folk has run well again when stepping up in grade. Back to a dry track he should go forward and win.

SWAN HILL R3 #4 LEGEND OF ZORRO $2.20

It has been a bit costly for my pocket backing this gelding at his past two starts but he does have the hoof on the till. The figures from his last run at The Valley are good enough to be finally breaking the maiden here. Next best for exotics, #1 BLADNOCH and #6 YULONG SONG.

SWAN HILL R4 #3  CATEGORY FIVE $3.05

He took a bit longer than expected to breakthrough but did so in style last start bolting in by 3.25L. He looks to be progressive and some of these have found their mark.
