GOSFORD R3 #3 EXPRESS DRAGON $16.20
This gelding did a fair bit wrong on debut at Grafton. He over raced badly early and was covering extra ground out wide. He has been given time to improve and looks to have returned in good order. The blinkers went on in the recent trial and he travelled strongly and looked to have the measure of Sawtell who has won four races. Should run a good race at eachway odds.
GOSFORD R4 #2 HONEY GO LIGHTLY $2.05
I thought this filly was running well against progressive horses and was working up to a win. First up at Gosford she bumped into Archery Butts and Key Largo, both those horses look like they should go through the grades at some stage. Second up she only found Irish Angel too good but there have been a couple subsequent winners that finished behind her there. Danger #5 Minifinn.
GOSFORD R5 #7 ENDURING NIGHT $8.50
I think this filly will keep improving up in distance. They did not go that fast at Nowra and it turned into more of a sprint late when she could only manage to run 3rd. She gets an extra 300m here and hopefully will be able to show her staying potential.
GOSFORD R6 #2 GALLANT RUN $4.45
Been a frustrating horse for the wallet. He should win one of these soon though, should put himself on speed and be in it for a long way.
GOSFORD R7 #8 SUPER SWISH $14.20
I thought she trialled really well at Randwick when beating home All Cylinders under her own steam. She then went shocking at the races when finishing last at Hawkesbury. Prepared to give her another chance though with the tongue tie going on.
BALLARAT R1 #3 A PINCH OF LUCK $2.35
This two-year-old filly has jumped out well enough on a few occasions. On one occasion at Mornington she was niggled at to keep up but did cross the line with Tall Lady, that mare has won four races. Not sure of the opposition in the latest jump-out but she did look to move well when winning by a margin and did show a bit of acceleration when the jockey gave her a little nudge late. The danger is #1 LYSANDRA who is included in all exotics and looks the quinella runner. Got my money a few times last preparation and could have improved with a decent spell.
BALLARAT R2 #9 TIANA GIA $6.60
I sent her out as a first starter play last week when she was nominated for a race and opened nice odds of $20. Unfortunately, she was scratched there but does still look to have a decent chance in what looks to be a stronger race. She first caught my eye at the Ballarat jump-outs when travelling under her own steam and moving well and was still unnamed. She then travelled well again at the next jump-out against horses that have proven to be better than maiden grade and crossed the line with Telekinesis, that galloper has subsequently bolted in by 4L at his next start. Few other chances that can be included are #2 JACOB who I think has more ability than he has shown so far at the races, has jumped out well on a few occasions and the tongue tie goes on. #11 KIANI was ridden late in her recent jump-out but did beat home Laughing Joe and Rebel Excell.
BALLARAT R3 #2 DUNVEGAN $6.20
He was jumping out well before the debut and did have to carry a bit of weight there with 59.5kg on the back. He was a bit weak late but he started short in the market and was expected to run well. This looks a bit easier and he can take some improvement from the debut.
BALLARAT R4 #4 LEXINGTON LAD $4.40
I think this gelding brings the right form lines into this race. He was not beaten far by April Rules and Pure Purgatory and both those gallopers look to have a nice future. There was also a good margin back to the rest.
One for the exotic’s players. #1 SMARTIME did show something at the jump-outs when in Victoria. #2 PASS THE CARD hoof on the till and will be fitter second up. #3 UTAH GET ME TWO formally known as Daumier, did trial well a while ago with Bivouac. #11 Reigning Supreme can hopefully run a place and add some value in Tri and F4’s.
