BALLARAT R1 #4 TELEKINESIS $3.65

I think he comes out of a decent maiden at Pakenham last start. The winner Our Musketeer was only narrowly defeated in his previous two starts and the runner up Our Lone Hero won his next race. The third placed horse Jacin Talee has also subsequently broke her maiden status. He looked to hit the line ok in the recent Ballarat synthetic jump-out and this is not a strong maiden.

BALLARAT R2 #5 LORD MINTY $8.80

Giving this Ex Queenslander a chance here at odds. Again, this does not look a strong maiden and the recent jump-out at Cranbourne was in decent company. He was ridden in the straight, but he crossed the line with Black Sea and Rich Charm. #2 ARTWORKS can win without surprise, over raced early when first up.

BALLARAT R3 #4  MODULO $2.40

He was probably a bit disappointing at Bendigo when running 5th as the fav. He did look to join in with about 200m to go and looked a chance, but I would say his condition maybe gave out, coming off a 30 day freshen up. With that run under the belt he should be fitter and ticks a few other boxes, staying at the 1400m and gets a strong rider in Callow jumping aboard.

BALLARAT R5 #8  MISS TENTHOUSAND $1.33  #2 ASTRID’S COMET $26.50

I have tipped this filly three times and she has run 2nd three times. I think that is just because she has bumped into one better on the day. Stretto beat her at Ballarat, and he has always shown better than average ability. Last start she bumped into Over the Sky who ran a real eye catcher when going to Flemington on Saturday. She should just win today but having something each way on ASTRID’S COMET just in case she finds some trouble. She was caught wide on debut and finished behind a couple that look to go well. Most recently she was at the tail of the field but not much looked to make ground in that race at Werribee.

BALLARAT R8 #8  HEDLEY’S LADY $4.10

She went forward at Casterton and absolutely bolted in by 7L. She was then taken on in the lead when going up in grade at Echuca and was left a sitting shot late when a few that had a better run in behind were stronger late. If she can get a softer lead today, she should be in the finish.

NEWCASTLE R1 #1  KINGSHEIR $2.15

I have said in the past, this stable usually only keep the ones above average as colts. This guy has jumped out well down Melbourne way at Flemington and most recently looked to trial well at Rosehill on two occasions. He went to the line with Green Kudos and Kaptive, both horse who I believe are well above average. He then was not tested behind Quatum, who is another horse who looks to go well. Looks to have nice ability.

NEWCASTLE R7 #8  HYANNIS PORT $4.05

She gets my money again. She fought on well last start after doing a bit of work early to find the lead and set a fast tempo. If she can find the front again, I expect her to prove hard to run down again with the added fitness.

WARREN R1 #8  TELLS TAILS $4.65

I thought she showed some improvement from the first trial into the second trial. In the most recent trial at Dubbo she was able to be in a more forward position and only found one better in Intimidating, that geldings most recent form isn’t flash but he has won a race.
