PAKENHAM R1 #11 TOVOLO GAP $2.05
Looks a two-horse race to me. TOVOLO GAP has come back well this preparation and was a bit unlucky first up. Second up she bumped into a few that look above average, but she still beat Queen of Tarts home who has won since. #2 BLADNOCH has been racing well and looks the quinella horse, only found Smokin’ Romans too good at Ballarat and that galloper has won again. I think the key to him is getting him going early and not waiting for a quick sprint.
PAKENHAM R2 #9 PARAPHERNALIA $4.00
Hard name to spell but I liked the way she hit the line last start against Over the Sky. That galloper went to Flemington yesterday and did not look out of place when stepping up in grade. If she can be a bit more forward than she was last start she should be hard to beat. The one that looks to have the most improvement to come is #4 THYLACINE did a good job on debut over the 1600m. We will get a guide in the first race with Tovolo Gap but as I mentioned Queen of Tarts has already franked the form.
PAKENHAM R4 #4 THE DUKE OF HAZARD $4.25
He has trialled in decent company this guy. In February at Cranbourne, I liked the way he hit the line under riding to finish alongside Answer Me Hussey who has since won a maiden. Piemonte was there, that gelding has won a couple races. The next trial he finished near Designer Chef who has won two races. I will also be having something on #14 JOURNALESE she was jumping out well before her debut and finished close up to Mccain at Sale. Mccain franked the form by winning yesterday.
SUNSHINE COAST R6 #7 SULKING $2.10
She caught my eye back in November last year at the trials. She then bumped into a smart one there at Warwick Farm in Fituese. I think she is better than a class 1 horse.
CONFINEMENT looks to have some ability but did not help her chances when slowly away first up. If she can get away cleanly today and find the lead from the inside draw, she can take some running down. I will also be having something on LISTEN TO THE BAND has covered ground in both starts but still has shown some ticker by coming again on the line. The third placed horse at Bathurst, Our Fox has franked the form by beating home Gallant Run.
SHA TIN R4 #10 JOYFUL FORTUNE $2.40
Formally known as Cerritus when he was trialling in Australia. He won his first trial at Gosford by a big margin beating home Street Scream. He won the next trial under a hold late, beating home Celer. Recent trial at Sha Tin was impressive again. Hopefully, we get some decent odds.
