ECHUCA R1 #13 MCCAIN $8.10

I thought he was a chance on debut after looking ok at the jump-outs. He ended up leading at Sale and they went quick. He fought on well in the straight and was only swamped late but still beat home Journalese who I think has some ability. He draws well enough here to go forward and be hard to run down.

ECHUCA R2   #2  COMPARDY $3.35

Very interesting race this one. Looks to be a couple of horses that have a future in my opinion. The hardest to beat looks to be COMPARDY who was jumping out well in good company before his debut. Unfortunately for connections he bumped into a pretty smart one in Ocular and the race rated very well for a maiden. He has been given plenty of time and looks to have returned in good order, recently jumping out well with Little Stevie and there were a few winners behind. #7 TUROAR  looks to have enough ability to win a maiden, looked to go well enough in a trial back in February and recently jumped out ok. #8 VILLA VILLEKULLA looks to be the main danger to Compardy, my notes said he was ridden but went with Cashed Up in a jump-out. That galloper has won three races. More recently he won a jump-out by a big margin, beating home Our Hot Date. I will be backing Compardy and playing the exotics. #3 Just Folk did not catch the eye but worth noting travelled alongside stablemate Piscatorial in a jump-out at Bendigo. Piscatorial won yesterday.

She looks very hard to beat now with the scratching of the unraced Loving Gracie. She ran really well on debut when running 2nd behind Dimaggio. The third horse has since franked the form by winning and Dimaggio has gone on to win again when going up in grade. Only concern is the wet ground, if she handles that I think she is better than these.

This colt ran really well on debut at Caulfield. The trainer mentioned he would be better over further, and he did look strong going through the line over the 1100 and gets an extra 100m here. I think we can trust the form from that race because I have a decent opinion of Clean Machine.

I am sure the whole of Australia is on, but I better stick with him. He has done everything right so far and looks to have loads of ability. He travels well and can put away a race very quickly with that nice turn of foot.

FLEMINGTON R9 #6  OCEAN MISS  $8.60 #14  LONADO $43.00

Ocean Miss looks to have good upside. She won well first up at Seymour, coming off a long break and was really strong through the line, carrying 60kg. She should strip fitter for the run and gets some nice amount of weight off her back. LONADO took a while to breakthrough for that maiden win but when she did, it was a real eye catcher. She looked to have no chance when being held up but launched late to get up. Now with some confidence under her belt she may prove a chance at odds.

I feel like I am forever forgiving Timon Stinger, but I have to forgive the last start at Wyong. It was definitely better to be on the rail that day and he was out wide. If he brings the form prior to that run, he should be in the finish. ROYAL MARINE looked to come back well this preparation, winning a trial, and beating home Lewis who has since won a benchmark 70. Forgive last start, they went very fast early and he was left a sitting shot.

I thought he was going to win a bit easier once hitting the front last start, but he still won which was the main thing. He should improve again and was one I marked to follow up in distance. Would not be shocked to see improved performances from Louder and Kimmylee.

Connections have headed up north to try and win a race with this Victorian galloper. I think he can definitely win a maiden and the 2nd behind Monetizing reads well for this.

Couple of nice horses here so will have to have something on the quinella. Not sure if HYPERSONIC has a few issues but has taken a little while to make an appearance at the races after a nice trial and jump-outs. I think he goes well though and should be in the finish. SOUTHERN LIGHTS has always shown ability but failed to show it in his last preparation. He has been gelded since and looks to have returned well if his jump-outs are any guide.
