Not A Zak brings some very strong form lines to this two-year-old event. He only found one better in Cherry Tortoni at Sale and that gelding has subsequently won impressively at Flemington. The 5th placed horse Saltpeter has since won two races, including a recent win in town at Caulfield. He fought on well at his latest run, only beaten 0.8L by Crosshaven, who is considered to be fairly smart. He should take a stack of running down here. The danger looks to be SEGAL, who was trialling ok up in Sydney before failing on debut. He did a bit wrong and was reported to not handy the heavy going. He looked to move stylishly at the Flemington jump-outs and can show improvement here. Would not be shocked to see some improvement from #9 ALTAI RANGER, he goes in exotics. He went with Terrace House in a jump-out a while ago and that galloper has gone on to prove better than maiden grade. Last start he was ridden negatively and could be a decent push to see Oliver aboard.
KENSINGTON R1 #11 GIOVANNA RUN $4.25
This two-year-old filly did a fair bit wrong on debut. She over raced badly at the back of the field and was not able to finish the race off. The connections then gave her a decent spell and she looks to have come back in good order. She looked to move well at the recent Rosehill trial in heavy going, moving up stylishly under her own steam to win. Jmac keeps the ride after being on her back in the trial which seems a decent push for her chances today.
