His debut run on paper reads poor but is a forgive, the vet examination revealed a slow recovery. I thought the effort last start on the synthetic was a much-improved run, after settling last he made good ground in the straight to suggest a rise in distance would suit. He gets the extra 200m here and should look a chance at some stage if he can get to the outside in the straight. Next best #FUDGING still looked a chance with about 200m to go last start but felt the pinch late and faded into 7th. With the run under the belt at the 1200m now, he can go forward again and give a sight with added fitness.

This filly is on a fairly quick back up, but she was not able to be fully tested last start. She was given a nice ride on the fence but when reaching the 200m mark Jamie Kah was unable to fully ride her out and produce the whip, with a wall of horses in front. This does not look a strong maiden and she should be in the finish again.

He surely breaks through here. He should be reaching peak fitness, now 4th up from a spell. The winner was able to sneak a break on him last start when he was held up at the top of the straight. He hit the line well again, running the fastest last 200m of the race and the extra distance should suit. He should just win with any luck.

CANBERRA R3 #15   TRUST THE GUT $43.00  #3 FENECH $2.15

I thought Trust the Gut trialled well at Queanbeyan. She crossed the line there with Katie Did It, who has since won a benchmark 60. Kuna Magic was a few lengths behind them in that trial and has subsequently won a maiden and done so with a performance Chautauqua would be proud of. She missed the kick there on debut and should improve with the run under the belt. Saving with #3 FENECH another one that caught my eye at the trials and run well on debut. He still has a bit of learning, but I liked the way he hit the line. The form from the race has been franked with the winner De Grawin winning again and the 5th placed Nicci’s Fling subsequently breaking her maiden status.

He finished 2nd first up from a spell but was only beaten 1.15L by Brazen Gem, that looks good enough form for this. Last start he looked a bit one paced late but he gets back down in the weights here with the 56kg on his back that he carried first up.
