He first caught my eye at the Kyneton jump-outs. On the 8th of May he was ridden behind the tearaway leader Must Be Moet, but he did make good ground after the winning post to be not far off that galloper. Must Be Moet is a four-year-old mare who has won a maiden and subsequently finishing a close-up third in a benchmark 58. The stablemate Lady Marizza finished 3rd in that jump-out. The following Kyneton jump-out he was made to win but the opposition was questionable. JOURNALESE jumped out well at Ladbrokes Park Hillside on the 19th of May when she led and travelled along nicely in front. Jabali Ridge was behind her and is a good guide that she may have ability because he has already won a race at Flemington and was only beaten 0.3L when resuming this preparation. #6 Spirit of Giving goes in all my exotics, ran well on debut after a decent jump-out. Did not get to see a jump-out this time in because of technical issues, so not sure how he has come back.
SALE R3 #5 RESOLUTE LAD $3.95
Sticking solid again. He was still strong through the line last start when going up to the 1600m for the first time so he should handle the rise in distance again to the 1700m. He hits a dry track for the first time which could see improvement and has a couple of gear changes. This does not look a strong maiden. Next best #4 Not for Izzy has the hoof on the till and will win a maiden soon but just might find one better today, again.
I am looking forward to this race. I have backed two. RETELL I was excited when I was watching the first jump-out at Mornington, he sat wide and travelled well, matching motors over the line with a few that have reach a good level, including Raven’s Blaze and Remastered. I made note really nice work. The second jump-out did not blow me away when he looked to dead-heat with Unload on the winning post. Unload has only been to the races once and finished 13th of 14. Happy to have a decent bet on MOSHELLE DE CLASSE at the Eachway odds. Finished 2nd in a jump-out at Cranbourne back on the 11th of May. Behind was Lani Bang Bang who ran very well on debut, finishing 2nd to the above average Dimaggio. The next jump-out was also nice work, she was ridden but beat home Charvet and Commodus, both those gallopers have proven better than maiden grade.
SALE R9 #1 DESIGNER CHEF $6.60
Always looked a horse who would appreciate getting up in trip. Gets an extra 100m and can keep winning.
Found it hard to split them but sided with #1 Camerlengo who has put together a few nice trials this preparation. The first trial this time in he beat home Tommy Gold, who was ridden late to try and catch him. Tommy has subsequently looked good winning a strong maiden. The next trial he beat Acrophobic who had already been to the races and won. He should get out and lead and be very hard to run down. #10 TIGHT ROPES I have been a fan of this filly for a while now, she caught my eye early days when looking to trial well. She has not put it together race-day yet but looks to have returned well after a trial at Rosehill. I will be having something on the quinella and the exacta #1 to beat the #10.
CANTERBURY R2 #8 HONEY GO LIGHTLY $40.00
She looks a filly that will improve over distance and I thought she ran well first-up over 1000m. That race at Gosford rated very well on the clock for a maiden and I think the first two over the line are above average. Looks silly odds to me and is worth a ticket eachway. Next best #9 Irish Angel.
CANTERBURY R4 #7 MILUNKA $1.94
I was with her first-up and see no reason to jump off. I think she has a fair amount of ability and will end up in town on a Saturday at some stage soon.
