SALE R3    #7 HUMMALONG  $1.92    #5   SACER VATES $23.00

Hummalong will be very hard to beat here. She was narrowly beaten on debut at Moe, finishing 2nd to Mariamia. That filly has since franked the form by winning a nice benchmark 64 at Flemington. Hummalong has returned with a nice jump-out at Mornington, beating some well performed horses, including La Tigeresa and Open Minded. Expecting her to go forward and be hard to run down. #5 SACER VATES could be the blowout chance, I thought he trialled well enough in his first preparation. Beating Miroku in the first trial, that gelding has gone on to win a couple races. I am forgiving the first up run this time in, he was stuck a bit wide with no cover early. He may be a bit one-paced but if they can find the lead, he may also take some running down at big odds.

I had him as a best bet last start at Sandown. He was slightly disappointing there, but I do not think much made ground in the straight, so I am forgetting he went around. He was good when first up at Bendigo, making good ground to finish 3rd. This does not look a strong race and if he brings his best, he will be hard to beat. #6 CRACKSMAN is the danger for mine, has always shown me a bit in jump-outs but has been disappointing. Resumes from a spell and could be ready to show full potential.

Did a stack wrong on debut at Kembla Grange. Has since been back to the trials and run 2nd to Ocean Emperor, that colt had already been to the races and won. The next trial he was ridden in the straight, but he finished close-up to some nice types, including Nictock, Kylease and Invictus Prince who has subsequently ran a good 2nd at Randwick. He should run a good race at eachway odds.

I have been a big fan of this mare for a long time now. I thought she looked to have good ability when she trialled for the first time at Canterbury. She did not have the best of luck last preparation when being held up at several starts, especially at Canterbury when running 4th behind Guise. Forgive the poor performance last start, she pulled up lame. The recent trials at Rosehill have been good and she will give this a big shake first up and I think she will progress through the grades.
