Newcastle R2 #5 FULMINA $2.90
This filly won her maiden in style last start when stepping up in distance to the 1600m. The form from that race has been outstanding with the 2nd place horse Colette winning her next four races, including the Group 1 ATC Oaks. The 3rd placed horse Tampering has subsequently won three races including a benchmark 70. The most recent trial tells me she has come back in good order, running away from Baanone after the finishing post. Baanone has since finished 4th not beaten far in a BM-70. The unknown is the wet track.
Newcastle R4 #2 GALLANT RUN $8.10
I have tipped this guy a few times now and this is his last chance to show something. He bumped into a handy one last start and should be reaching peak fitness now with three runs under the belt. He should go forward and give them something to catch over the 900m.
Newcastle R5 #1 BROOK HILL $2.20
He trialled well enough before the debut to suggest he would be competitive in a maiden. The debut run was definitely a pass mark, running 3rd behind a few that look above average. The winner Avion Fury has subsequently finished 2nd beaten half a length when going up in grade to a class 1. This looks a much easier task than he faced on debut and looks very hard to beat.
Hamilton R3 #11 SKI ZOOM $3.65
I started following this four-year-old mare after a nice jump-out at Geelong. It was back in November last year but she matched motors over 1000m with some well performed horses. She finished 2nd about half a length behind Mamzelle Tess, Mamzelle won a group 2 after that jump-out. Finishing 4th was Anolass, she subsequently won a benchmark 64. If she is fit and ready to go first up here, she should be too good.
Hamilton R4 #2 CAPITAL ZOUS $2.10
This son of Zoustar has jumped out well on a few occasions. The first jump-out was at Colac in December last year and he was in front after the winning post, behind was Sweet Rockette. Sweet Rockette has finished 2nd in a group 3 race. The next jump-out he beat Lunar Fox, that colt has won a group 2 at Flemington. The stable has been in good form of late and he should run a big race on debut, if he handles the wet. Next best is #10 MACHALI has jumped out well in the past and would be competitive at best. #14 GUNSABLAZIN’ also including in exotics, has better ability than form suggests.
