Ballarat R1  #8   SANBUCK $2.40

This guys record does not read very well, and you could easily think he just does not like to win. I think he just keeps bumping into some nice progressive horses. At the start of this preparation he bumped into The General, that colt won a benchmark 70 at his next start. Two starts ago at Geelong he raced wide with no cover and only found Teramia better, she had shown good ability in jump-outs before that debut. Last start he finished 3rd but the winner Zougazem was another horse on debut that looks handy. He gets his chance today.

Muswellbrook R7   #2   MELIK $1.72

He won well on debut, beating Patagonian. That gelding has gone on to win a couple of races. There was a decent gap back to third. Second start he did not have much luck after being posted wide for the trip but showed good fight to run 2nd after being collared just before the post.  He recently was given a good hit-out at his latest trial, which should have him fit enough to be competitive first up.

ROUGHIE

Muswellbrook R2 #18   POETIC DESIGN $26.50

This filly caught my eye when she trialled at Cessnock back in September last year. The jockey looked to have her under a big grip in the straight, but she still ran through the line strongly. She then went to Port Macquarie on debut and made an absolute mess of the start. The recent trial suggests her barrier manners have improved and this does not look a strong maiden.

FORGIVE RUN

Ballarat R3  #3  BLADNOCH $5.60

Was caught wide last start when resuming at Ballarat.  The form from the race has stood up with Tycoon Thunder subsequently winning at Pakenham by 2.75L. He may not have handled the heavy going and he was jumping out well enough to suggest he could win this.

INTERNATIONAL

Sha Tin  R7 #9   SELL MY SOLE $5.00

Ex Australian horse who trialled well here. Won a trial at Cranbourne beating winners, including Ocean Dew, Liveinthefastlane and listed winner Royal Crown. Has also attracted some early money.
