Loves the wet ground

Randwick R6 #10  MISS EINSTEIN $2.90

This mare looks like she loves the wet ground. Her only start on heavy ground she absolutely bolted in winning by 6L and was not fully ridden out to the line. First up this preparation at Rosehill she was near last on the turn and did not get much luck until late. When she did get some clear running, she ran on well to finish 5th. Second up at Randwick she looked like she was going to fight the finish out, before the two runners on either side, came together and she got squeezed out the back. Third up here she should be reaching peak fitness and will be finishing hard down the outside.

Newcastle R4 #7  EPILINE  $3.85 #11  SPRING SECRET $10.20

I do not think there is much between these two fillies. I do think #11 Spring Secret represents the best value at the bigger eachway odds though. They both come out of the same race, when they finished behind the tearaway leader and winner, Crown Affair. Crown Affair goes around in the 4th at Randwick today, so we should get a guide about the form there.

Over the odds

Newcastle R6 #1 PIA SOFIA  $6.00  #12 KISS AND TELL $12.00

Pia Sofia trialled well at Randwick before her debut. She finished 2nd there and was not far off some nice types after the winning post, including Lost and Running and Le Gai Soleil. Both those gallopers have subsequently won. She was then good on debut when running home well to finish 2nd. The race rated well on the clock for maiden class and natural improvement should see her go close today. #12 Kiss and Tell has her hoof on the till and has bumped into a few above average gallopers this preparation.

Class Edge

Flemington R2 #1  KHOEKHOE $2.30

This two-year-old colt could not have been more impressive when flashing home to win last start. This does not look any harder on paper and he should appreciate the step up in distance.

Flemington R4 #12  ALFA ORO $2.35

I still think this lightly raced gelding has plenty of upside. He should get out and roll along out in front and take some running down. He drops a couple of kgs after winning in really good time last start at Pakenham.

ROUGHIE

Mudgee R3  #8 SHUKKAS $20.50

This grey filly trialled like she could definitely win a maiden somewhere. Both races she has contested have rated well on the clock for maiden class and this looks a bit weaker field than her previous starts. Would love to see her go forward. #13 WILD ROCKET is a chance at odds. Ran a good 2nd behind Sticks ‘N’ Stones two starts ago. Sticks won again at her next start.
