Kembla Grange R1  #7  HYANNIS PORT $2.30

She was impressive when beating Avion Fury two starts ago at Gosford. Avion Fury then franked the form by winning his last start at Newcastle, beating Midland, a two-year-old colt I have a lot of time for. Before going for a spell, she finished 3rd behind Reiby’s Regent, he has subsequently won a benchmark 64 by 3L. The recent trial suggest she has come back in better order, they do not trial much better than she did there, absolutely bolting. The odds looked to have been knocked off this morning after $4 being available but with some luck she might drift out to $3+ by race time and that looks attractive.

Moe R2 #10   CHANGING TRACKS $10.00

This mare has been sitting in the black book for some time now. She went in after looking strong late in a few Cranbourne trials, against good company. In her first trial she was up amongst the leaders, a  short distance past the winning post, alongside listed winner Tahitian Dancer and a handful of other horses who have won maidens. The next trial she finished alongside Fidelia. Her only start she bumped into the smart Tofane, who has subsequently won a Group 1, and she did not have the best of runs after contacting another horse in the straight. The slight concern is I have not seen a jump-out this time in to see what her fitness level looks like but if she is anywhere near her top I think she will give this a huge shake at odds.

Moe R4  #6   RESOLUTE LAD $1.68

I was left a bit wounded and flat after backing this guy on debut. I was not the only one after he ended up jumping at $1.70 and appeared to be disappointing when finishing 5th. He did look to improve a lot once stepping up in distance last start at Sandown Hillside, running 3rd and only going down by less than a length. Arctic Wolf has since run well and the 7th placed Gettysburg Address, won at Bendigo on Sunday. If Resolute Lad has any luck and does not get too far back in the run, I am confident he just wins today.

Port Macquarie R4  #5  PURE RUBICK $3.00

I was taken by the recent trial at Gosford. She was made to win the trial after being whipped but she still managed to beat Fuchu, who has an unusual name but also is a galloper that has won five races. Back in 3rd was Ellie’s Encore, another good galloper on her day. After being made to win that trial her fitness levels should be forward.
