Bendigo R1 #7 STAR PROJECT $5.60
This filly by Zoustar has jumped out on three occasions at Flemington. In the first jump-out she showed good natural pace to be up on speed but was under a grip from the jockey and finished 4th, a distance behind the winner. The next jump-out she won, beating Koty’s. Koty’s ran yesterday at Flemington and was not disgraced, feeling the pinch late after leading to finish 2.55L behind the winner. The most recent jump-out was the best, she was restrained again at the tail of the field but eventually worked her way through to finish up amongst the lead, under her own steam. I Am Mamwaazel and Who Runs the World were in that bunched finish.
Queanbeyan R2 #1 HEY DUGEE $12.20
I thought this four-year-old gelding improved from his first trial into his 2nd. He finished 2nd in the first trial at Sapphire Coast but the opposition he faced is the concern. Meryan won that trial but then ran poorly on debut at Goulbourn, finishing last. There was some money to suggest she was expected to go much better though. The next trial I thought he stuck on really well with Pinch River, who has not shown much of late but in his day was a very fast horse.
Queanbeyan R4 #10 PHYSCOA $8.10
Going to give this mare one more chance. I have tipped her a few times now after she trialled well in an open trial last year. Fair to say she has been a bit plain in her races, but she has had a few excuses. Last start she was stuck wide early after jumping well from the barriers and never got any cover. If she can find some cover today, she can be stronger late and hopefully show that she has some ability.
