Swan Hill R1 #12 MISS TENTHOUSAND $2.45
This filly has had two jump-outs at Ballarat to get ready for this. The first jump-out was a bit plain to the eye but she was not far off Quality Approach who subsequently won a benchmark 64. Persan was under heavy riding just in front of this filly, and he has since won his maiden. The second jump-out she was able to take a more forward position and won the heat, beating The Brickman and Gregorian Chant, the latter proving yesterday she is still travelling ok, after being competitive in a benchmark 64.
Swan Hill R3 #6 IRISH PLAYBOY $1.82
He was slightly disappointing first up at Pakenham. He went into the race as the $2.30 fav and appeared to be weak late when dropping out to finish 4th, after getting a soft lead in front. I think we must forgive that run though as he was much more competitive at his first two starts when ridden colder. He should also improve a lot fitness wise from the first up run, he went in without a trial and drops back in distance here which should help. #11 TOTAL CRAFT looks the danger.
Swan Hill R4 #7 CAKE WALKER $4.65
I have been following this filly since a nice jump-out at Camperdown. She matched motors with a few handy types, including Nashville Sound. On debut at Pakenham she loomed up and looked like she was going to be in the finish at one stage but may have felt the pinch late. She still should have finished closer but was checked at the 100m mark and lost ground. This looks an easier race to me than she contested last start and she should have more upside than these.
Quirindi R1 #11 TARIFF TRUMP $16.20
Mentioned last start that this filly has trialled much better than she has raced. She went around at $151 and ran 3rd and started to show a glimpse of her ability. Might show improvement again.
