Coffs Harbour R2  #10 VALLEJO $3.45

This filly first caught the eye when trialling at Coffs Harbour. She went to the line without much riding and finished 2nd to Vacate, beaten less than a length. Vacate has subsequently won a class 3 and a benchmark 78 since that trial. This daughter of Written Tycoon was then disappointing on debut when finishing 9th but she had excuses after being hampered early and then a vet examination revealed an abnormal gait behind. Last start she was much more competitive, working home well to finish 2nd over the 810m. Now 3rd up she is ready to win.

Cranbourne R1  #8 FIVE SPINS $5.80

I was keen on this filly when she was having her debut at Cranbourne. She had jumped out well on a few occasions at Caulfield going into that race. She held firm in the market pre-race to suggest there was confidence she would run well, and the trainer seemed optimistic of a good showing when interviewed just before they jumped. Unfortunately, her chances were all over when she jumped from the outside barrier and was caught 4 wide no cover. No doubt she will take improvement from that run and hopefully get a change of luck here. Chances also to #4 KUTAYHA who was ridden in a jump-out but went with older galloper Meteor Light and #9 GREAT AMBITION, been promising to win a race for some time now.

Cranbourne R2 #1  ATYPICAL $2.75

Another galloper I thought was ready to run a big race on debut but was disappointing. The market agreed and he was heavily backed into the $1.65 favourite at Sale but was weak late, dropping out in the straight to finish 6th. I am convinced he is much better than that and the connections have given him plenty of time to improve. The jockey mentioned post-race he would be better suited to tracks with more give and he gets a soft track tonight to show if he is any good.

Cranbourne R3 #18  RONNANI $14.20

Tipped this filly last start after a few nice jump-outs at Cranbourne. She finished midfield but I thought she worked home ok after being a mile-back on the turn. The rise in distance looks suitable and Dwayne Dunn retaining the ride seems a good enough lead to have something on her at eachway odds.
