Hawkesbury R2 #3 Srini $2.75

This gelding was expected to run a good race on debut and was backed from $3.20 into $2.80. Unfortunately for his backers he raced greenly and was found to have an elevated heart rate. He was a notable drifter at his second start when going to Hawkesbury and only managed to finish slightly worse than midfield. The form from that race has stood up though, with a heap of subsequent winners. He returned this preparation with a 4th first up at Goulburn. They went slow early which did not help with him being able to settle and he over raced. He still loomed up in the straight and looked a chance, but I think he felt the pinch late. I would expect he will improve fitness wise and be much more competitive 2nd up at the 1300m this time.

Hawkesbury R4   #5   Ralph’s Folly $1.56

I have been quite keen to see this son of Snitzel make his debut at the races. I thought his first trial was very impressive, the way he hit the line over the 1000m really caught my eye and he quickly put a margin on the winner, Last Chance Dance, after the winning post. The second trial he bolted in winning by 3.8L and beat Café Royal who has an impressive record of four starts for three wins and a 2nd. The trial this preparation was good again and he looks destined to end up in town at some stage, so I expect him to win today. If looking to try and find some value now that Ralph has been smashed in the betting, #8 Thrive in the Home is knocking on the door and is a definite place chance and #9 Pia Sofia has trialled well enough to win a maiden at some stage.

Hawkesbury   R8  #1  Blueant $2.45

This son of Smart Missile looks progressive to me. He could not have been more impressive when winning at his first go at the 1400m last start. He was able to go forward at the start and then give a big kick on the turn to put a big margin between him and the opposition. I have a bit of time for the 2nd horse Rebel Bro, so I thought the win was full of merit. He can go forward again with the inside barrier and put together two wins in a row here.
