Geelong R2 #5 Krispy Kev $3.20

This son of Starspangledbanner had jumped out well on a few occasions at Flemington prior to his debut at Pakenham. Going into that debut he had only jumped out the once this preparation and the trainer mentioned pre-race, he was a nice horse but would be vulnerable late due to the lack of fitness. He did a bit wrong there at Pakenham, over-racing in the early stages of the race, behind a good tempo. Once he found clear air in the straight though and balanced-up he let down well and was only beaten by a smart one. The extra 100m looks ideal and he should improve out of sight, fitness wise from the debut run.

Geelong R5 #8 Glassey Miss $4.70

This filly was impressive when winning on debut at Hamilton. She looked strong late there, running down Glenferrie Girl who subsequently won her following start by 2L at Dunkeld. The form was also franked by the 3rd placed horse Undoubtedly So, breaking her maiden at her next race. The race at Hamilton also was backed up by the clock, rating very well for maiden class. She then had a big spell following that win and resumed with a good run at Sandown Lakeside first-up, finishing 6th but only beaten 1.4L in a bunch finish. I think she should improve out of sight from that run, with the long time off and the fact she went into that race with only a few soft jump-outs. Craig Williams jumping on will hopefully help the wide barrier issue and he can work some magic.

Geelong R9 #8   I Did It Again $3.95

His record doesn’t read well with one win from sixteen starts but it should improve this preparation. He tackled some strong races early in his career, contesting the group 3 Manfred and finishing 4th, only beaten less than a length by Cliff’s Edge. I thought he looked to return well this time in when winning a trial at Cranbourne back in March. He beat Pierro Belle who has since won her past two races following that trial. He was then well respected in the market when first-up but bumped into a promising horse called The General but wasn’t disgraced making ground late after having a few traffic issues. I think they have the opportunity to take up the running with barrier 3 and he will take some running down.
