Warracknabeal  R1 #6 Resolute Lad $1.78

I thought this gelding would be the best winning chance for the day. Unfortunately, the market hasn’t missed him though. He caught my eye when he jumped out at Caulfield with some nice horses and didn’t look out of place. He sat on-pace there and was only overtaken late by Masculino and following behind was Cliff’s Edge and Teleplay, both very good gallopers on their day. If he comes out and wins like I expect him too, he is definitely worth following through the grades. I will be having something small on #2 Mister Dynamix at the big odds. He has been to the jump-outs on a few occasions and caught the eye once at Terang. He wasn’t far off the likes of Seatonic and Here De Fox after the winning post there.

Caulfield R3 #6 Heyington Station $4.25

He has always shown above average talent this guy. Starting back when he was a moral beaten on debut when he was held-up for a large part of the straight but still managed to run second. Linda Meech then took luck out of the equation at his second start, sitting handy facing the breeze and he showed his class bolting in and winning by 3L. He finished last preparation with a run at Moonee Valley, finishing a nice 4th in a Group 3. Sartorial Splendor lead and won, with not many making any ground. The camp has given him a big spell following that run and he has come back in good order. Running a super race at Moonee Valley when only getting some clear room when they straightened for home. He still made good ground with the short straight and looks ready for the 1400m here 2nd up. The forms been franked since with Nerone, Oasis Girl both winning and Ocular running a big  2nd.

Newcastle R6 #13 Penang $7.50

I’ve been stung plenty of times by this filly after watching her trial like a star on a few occasions. I think they may have finally worked her out now. She was very impressive finally breaking her maiden last start. Brenton Avdulla drove her forward from the barriers and found the front along the rail and that’s where she stayed. He was very kind to her in the straight, giving her the slightest of urgings but the opposition were under the pump to keep up. Now that the penny looks to have dropped and she gets an inside barrier over the 900m. She can win again and hopefully I can claw my money back.
