Moonee Valley back in the fold after a freshen. Expect the track plays well. A bit of rain around on Friday, hopefully some hits the track and they don’t need to water.

Race 1

Muntaseera has been scratched, a shame as I was ready to bet right up on it at its next start after a great run down the straight off some hot trials. Follow it. Tagaloa is another that ran very well cup week that comes here. Scratched from Sandown last week and well placed this time from a nice draw to be off the fence and stalking. Sportsbetting are taking it on currently at $4.25 which is a lovely overlay

Verdict: Tagaloa

Race 2

Small field but an interesting race over the mile here. They all can sit handy enough to the speed. Maserartie Bay going through his grades nicely this prep. Balaabel maps the stickiest. I can see being stuck wide then having to get all the way back to last. Nice horse but at the prices I prefer November Dreaming who comes to town after two good provincial runs this prep. Expect that over the mile Linda can hold the back of the leader early and that might be the difference. Love this breed when they get to a mile third-up.

Verdict: Tavistock

Race 3

Fill The Flute can lead here. Ge0rgie Cartwright rates them well from the top as well. Causeway Girl will be out the back somewhere but is a lovely fresh mare off a nice trial. Fancy she can stay in touch and put them away. Bella Vella another likely near the pace who can fill a placing.

Verdict: Causeway Girl

Race 4

Jungle Edge returns… 73 starts in and on the freshen he looks short enough. Thermal Current still going well enough but prefer at a different track. Mystoko will run well for sure. Ticks enough boxes but I think Wagner might be a bit too good for him late. Maps well enough from a nice jump out. Just needs to not lose touch over early stages of the race.

Verdict: Wagner

Race 5

Talenti was very hard to miss here on the 15th nov when winning easily. That win suggested he was better than 64 grade. Have to tip on top and keep following but at $195 there is little value in play. Expect Bill The Bee to run well but be a better betting proposition third-up at 16 or 1700m

Verdict: Talenti

Race 6

Rubisaki is the obvious closer here. Will need pace on but be closing late. Think that Somals might just hold her off though. She is a tough filly who is running good numbers early in her career. She can control the race from barrier 6 coming across to sit outside the lead and give a good kick. Three Beans next best.

Verdict: Rubisaki

Race 7

Good race this. Sure Knee is a lovely horse but at the official weights was a chance to get rolled. I think putting Teo on for the claim is a great decision in this instance and she maps ok here. Top pick. Vanuatu can be in front of her throughout and is the obvious danger. Eposito Gold is the leader at big odds to chuck into your multiples.

Verdict: Sure Knee

Race 8

Competitive race over the Cox Plate distance. Secret Blaze will be popular but barrier 11 on a horse that wants to roll forward and sit in the first few will be interesting early. I’m tipping against him. Rupture dropping back to 2000m looks more suitable with a good bush jockey on top. He might be able to keep the favourite out wide as well. Sir Pippin next best. I think he might be one run short of a peak so happy to wait for him back at Flemington or a bigger track.

Verdict: Rupture

Race 9

The ol’ dart throw sprint to end the day with one of few large fields. Mumbles gets a start and he is a winning chance. Morrissy goes in as top pick as it stands. Nice run stalking the speed and despite his modest record at track I think it suits him. Spirit Of Aquada likes the Valley too. Will need Dwayne weaving through late but can get a nice conservative run in transit. Call It A Day the rogue potential leader with an apprentice on for your multiples.

Verdict: Morrissy
