Rail: +4m 1600-1400, +5m remainder of course
Weather: Sunny & 30+ temperatures
Track Condition: Soft 5 (Friday)
Track Expectations: A drying track and +5m rail at Doomben makes for good news for on-pace runners.
Just three with race experience and all are winners. Dusty Tycoon worked hard on debut and was too good, should settle on pace again. Miss Lot Won arrived off an impressive provincial win and Avno Doubt poses the biggest threat of the debutants (if here not Sydney)
Verdict: Dusty Tycoon
So Dapper keeps winning but he gets barrier 14 here and a contested speed. Last-start winner Tycoon Street can enjoy that tempo from a midfield position along with Simply Sacred, with Enterprise Moss rattling home from the tail.
Verdict: Tycoon Street e/w
Winning form everywhere in the Country Final, but hard to line up. The Baker beat home Mason’s Chance at Rocky but the later has a big weight swing in his favour. Deadly Choices and Ritchford are well performed at the non-TABs.
Verdict: Mason’s Chance
Tricky field for the Winning Rupert. Le Palmier can lead, as he did in the major lead up event. Kalik beat him there but at 1200m I want Ready To Roam and Battle Strike (blinkers on here) who were both closing and look suited.
Verdict: Battle Strike
Strong speed drawn across the track. Lifesaver draws to not spend a penny in the run and his last two efforts read well for this. Winter Passage will also close strongly, but unsure if 1200m suits Rock Beat despite the tempo.
A field of usual suspects meet in the 2030m event. Third up at this trip, A Man To Match looks well placed. He has the ability to settle a little closer in running than last start and has no weight. Willing to forgive Dawson Diva a flat run last time out in the same event.
Verdict: A Man To Match
The scratching of the clear top pick Gem Of Scotland throws this wide open. Sugar Boom may work from wide on the speed and give Sukwhinder a cart into the race. Take Tea will conserve energy from the draw and Karaja can close.
The George Moore is the feature. I’m a Rippa should hold out the fellow speed runners from wider. Chapter And Verse may end up with the dream run from a low draw, camped behind the pace. If so he can turn the tables on Outback Barbie. Brave Song will be better suited at Eagle Farm.
Verdict: Chapter And Verse
Macewen won from the back two starts ago then led a small field last time. He’ll settle somewhere in the middle here but is hard to beat regardless. Soxagon worked over the mile and comes back in trip with fitness. Four other last-start winners and an make a case for most!
