Racepal Gold Coast Preview – 27th November 2019

Rail: +7.5m 1400m – 400m, +6m 400m – W/Post, +4m remainder
Weather: Possibly light shower Wednesday
Track Condition: Good 4
Track Expectations: Rain shouldn’t have a bearing on the Gold Coast meeting but the complicated rail position might. The rail out should further aid those on-pace.

Race 1

The Move was sent around at $1.35 on debut in town but found one better. Expected to come up at a short quote here but should justify it. Debutants Hard Currency and Leadership Spill both trialed well in preparation for this.

Verdict: The Move

Race 2

Second division of the 3YO maiden. Badoosh is the most experienced runner and resumes after two trial wins. Matched it with talented types 12 months ago on a Magic Millions path and draws to settle handily. Somebody’s Girl next best.

Verdict: Badoosh

Race 3

Eight of ten 2YOs on debut. Kavak not one of those – the colt bounced to the front and won his only start at Eagle Farm. Can repeat the dose if controlling the tempo. All Good Millo sat handy to a stronger tempo on debut and stuck on well. The Drinks Cart beat him home in a trial.

Verdict: Kavak

Race 4

The Move draws the inside gate and will lead the open age maiden if here, but that leaders advantage is offset by the 1200m query. Telecom Danewin may test him out in front and is battle hardened, with Bosendi and Playthefield appreciating any speed on.

Verdict: Telecom Danewin

Race 5

Big field for the fillies and mares maiden. So You Beauty looks a major hope with an assertive ride from the middle draw after competing well in the city. Baroda has trialled three times in preparation for her return and this is an easier assignment than her only other race outing.

Verdict: So You Beauty

Race 6

Pace from wide, with Buffy and Vienna Moon vying for the lead. Nothdurft will be under instruction to put her to the front and keep rolling, as she did in this grade two starts back Sojournist can use the inside alley to hold a prominent position and will be a late threat.

Verdict: Buffy

Race 7

The Administrator leads from the middle draw. Elixir is on a hat-trick here and gets an ideal low draw and 3kg apprentice claim. Should settle handily and get every hope. Schubert should settle midfield with room to move – his Sydney form from a previous life is superior.

Verdict: Elixir

Race 8

Special Thing will spot the leaders a start but brings the strongest staying credentials to this. If he gets a cart up mid-race he can unwind down the outside. Great Powers and Last Light appear strong on-pace chances if making up ground is difficult.

Verdict: Special Thing

Race 9

Strongest race of the day to finish. Prince Of Tie, Bold Chance and Shauquin from wide draws will set up a strong 1400m gallop. Tawfiq Boy and Tarbert ran a dead heat at Doomben trailing a hot speed. The latter had to ease and check off the former’s heels after racing on the inside. The map says something similar may happen here – but with luckier breaks Tarbert can atone.

Verdict: Tarbert.
