Racepal Doomben Preview – 23rd November 2019

Rail: +3m entire
Weather: Sunny
Track Condition: Good 4
Track Expectations: The rail out three metres at Doomben which is of some benefit to on-pacers, without making it impossible for those from the back.

Race 1

Lady Banff was a well-supported debut winner. Straight to the front, she can do it again. Tick Tock Boom was slightly disappointing given the backing on debut, the extra 200m is a positive.

Verdict: Lady Banff

Race 2

All signs point to Guntantes who gets the ideal trail from barrier one. Surged home to win at 1350m after a freshen and is 1/1 at the mile – Don’t Waiver chased him home gallantly then and will be on his back here while Rebel Rock will also be finishing strongly.

Verdict: Guntantes

Race 3

Red Stina gets out to 2000m and has options to not settle too far back from this draw. But Own Sweet Way looks a likely leader and was tough when holding on to win at the Gold Coast last time. Checkmate Lad handles the trip but may work from the draw.

Verdict: Own Sweet Way

Race 4

Horror draws for Light Up The Room and Lashoni aids Cinnamon Missile who, despite the drop in trip, can settle handily from gate 3. No knock on his last effort in this company. Lord Herron looks well placed up from country NSW on-pace while Notonya Nelly and Fat Max map ideally. Many hopes!

Verdict: Cinnamon Missile

Race 5

All Important can lead Maslow – they finished one-two last time – with Ashman slotting in behind. Can make a case for all but it may be Park Chinois who lets them fight among themselves in front and, with a suck run from barrier one, powers over the top late.

Verdict: Park Chinois e/w

Race 6

All favours here with Constant Flight who ticks all boxes on the speed map. In much easier company than he faced last outing, he should trail the speed and pounce. Wary of sharp fresh sprinter Darktown Strutter.

Verdict: Constant Flight

Race 7

Spirit’s Choice will run them along here. Third up at 1200m is okay but won’t want any pressure. Ready To Prophet draws wide and will likely sit OSL again, but this is a drop in class and has the fitness to run a strong six furlongs. Miss Fabulass has the figures but weaving a passage isn’t easy.

Verdict: Ready To Prophet

Race 8

Deep Image finally draws a gate and should lead uncontested. He ran them along and kicked to win last start. Both Signore Fox (surging Sydney winner last start) and Tambo’s Mate draw wide and arguably do their best work over the shorter 1200m, giving the leader the upper hand.

Verdict: Deep Image

Race 9

Captivator poses a real each-way threat in the last. Gets a 2.5kg weight swing on Saxton Rock (likely leader) and draws to race handy. Tatcee can get the cart up behind the leader and the drop back to a mile and soft draw may be in her favour.

Verdict: Captivator e/w
