Racepal Sunshine Coast Preview – 16th November 2019

Rail: True entire course
Weather: Possible shower/storm Saturday
Track Condition: Good 4
Track Expectations: All is in order for a good day’s racing at the Sunshine Coast – but the threat of an afternoon storm may throw a spanner in the works. At this stage, a fair surface is expected, with the crown of the track down the middle so often the place to be.

Race 1

Seven of nine having their first go. Rising Tycoon backs up from a disappointing debut while Way Beyond has another go after running a good race behind Rothfire. Dusty Tycoon the best of the trailers.

Verdict: Way Beyond

Race 2

So Dapper will be a cheap leader up in trip and looks to have a promising future. But the race experience of Dawson Diva, coming off a strong win in similar company, may be telling in the closing stages after an economical run.

Verdict: Dawson Diva

Race 3

Prince Of Tie will cross and lead the charge from a wide gate. Coral Bay overcame plent of difficulty to win last start and loves this venue and will be looking for clear air with the inconsistent Umberto and Bold Assassin late.

Verdict: Coral Bay

Race 4

An even group of stayers. Missed The Alarm is the mare on the way up and once again she gets in with little weight. There’s no Partnership here to bother Advance Warning and Speaking Bad while any cheap sections in front play into Picka Plum’s hands.

Verdict: Missed The Alarm e/w

Race 5

Ready To Roam experienced issues when disappointing as favourite second up. If he’s recovered, the low draw should allow him a comfortable sit off the pace here. If rain comes into the equation by this stage then expect Raging Pole to shorten.

Verdict: Ready To Roam

Race 6

Copywriter was working hard on the pace last start. He may allow I Dream Of Green and Doctor Zous to go on and take the drop. Dreamreacher can be hitting the line hard and Born Bad is a market watch third up.

Verdict: Copywriter e/w

Race 7

A number of quality sprinters engaged over the short course. The draw should allow Meet Mr Taylor to drive through and hold the front but there are plenty of challengers including Tarzan, Fiery Heights and Tycoon Ace. Mr Taylor will be attempting to kick and hold out Capital Connection late.

Verdict: Meet Mr Taylor

Race 8

Reckless Choice couldn’t run down a handy one resuming from a freshen, but he may not settle as far back here despite the gate. He has the sprint to round these up. Get Stuck In may not need to work as hard on the speed this week and poses a danger, keep an eye on Capital Gain too for later this prep.

Verdict: Reckless Choice

Race 9

A dash for the fillies rounds out the card. Howwonderfullifeis gets back to 1000m which is a major positive. She can make the running here along with Sugar Boom. Ingear and Better Reflection look to have plenty of ability – will 1000m prove too sharp for them? Conversely, their 1200m credentials should see them running home strongly.

Verdict: Howwonderfullifeis e/w
