Rail Position: True Entire Circuit
Dual Track Meeting: N
Track Type: Turf
Track Condition: Good 4
Weather: Fine

Sandown is a great betting track and with conditions perfect and the track coming off a little freshen in recent times this Saturday should be a top surface for wagering.

Race 1

Tagaloa is a really impressive type. Loved him in the yard at Flemington and looks like he will come on from the run nicely – pretty keen here. Guist trialled nicely and wide draw may end up being a positive for the juvenile runners over the shorts. Celestial Sol won his trial easily, 26k purchase and it wasn’t the hottest of heats. Will have admirers though.

Verdict: Tagaloa

Race 2

Some plodders here! Haky to be ridden for cover? What the! Neufbosc just hasn’t come on at all for the Hayes team. Couldn’t back. Sound was a horse I thought could surprise in the Melbourne Cup. Forget he went around there. Azuro in the mix but short enough.

Verdict: Sound

Race 3

Xilong is flying. Ran super at Flemington after copping sweet ride. Default top pick here as maps well again. Sophia’s Choice ran well behind Banquo and we rate that form for a race like this. Map sticky but happy to have as top pick EW. Palurien comes down south and can measure up. Sandown should suit.

Verdict: Sophia’s Choice EW

Race 4

Really like Widgee Turf in this class but giving them weight will test a few punters models. He isn’t a huge horse, either. He maps sweetly and have him on top all weight considered. Manalo Blaniq rumoured to be heading to WA after this? Music Bay gets the run of the race but is no star while William Thomas likely to be bottled up three back the fence.

Verdict: Widgee Turf

Race 5

Great race, possibly the best betting affair on the card. Good to see some of these horses back to 1000m where they belong. Faatinah fits that bill, class drop too although he is better fresh. Ashlor will run a race but likely find a few better. Viridine tricky draw from the one and think I will be against at the price. Easy Eddie on top, maps nicely for Zahra and I like the wide draw.

Verdict: Easy Eddie

Race 6

Good race this for a small field. Does Home Of The Brave come here or the million dollar race in Newcastle? Suited here! Hey Doc off a long break very talented but a big horse who I think will need the blow under race day conditions. Levendi similar boat but looking to get over more ground and a much less likely winner. Ringerdingding can finish over the top of some of the longer distance horses here fresh. D’Bai is short in the early play and a bit tricky to rate although his best will have him right in the finish. He is top pick if HOTB goes North.

Verdict: Home Of The Brave

Race 7

Moderate Sandown Guineas field this. Banquo copped a sweet ride at Flemington and won well. Trickier spot here and paying a premium. Heart Of Pussaince is progressive, Sandown should suit and gun jockey on top. Affair to Remember hard to knock but tight enough at the price. Pretty Brazen a multiples chance.

Verdict: Heart Of Pussaince

Race 8

Hardly a classic edition of this race either. Humidor is going ok, not sure he is going near his best, though. Obvious class runner rather well suited at WFA level against a bunch of handicappers. Gallic Chieftain and Chapada want the sting out to produce their best although the latter is suited by the map, Dal Harraild has been disappointing this prep and Southern France is too much of a plodder to be taking that price of around $3.50 at 2400m with a predicted slow tempo.

Verdict: Humidor

Race 9

Nice race. Thought Platinum Angel was very brave when giving weight at Flemington. The winner that day is smart and this suits better at the scale. Fidelia gets a really suitable class drop and can be in touch at the bend on a track that suits. Jamaican Rain would prefer sting out but with Meech on can dominate from near the front. Vanuatu and Noire in the multiples.

Verdict: Platinum Angel EW

Race 10

Distinct lack of speed here on my computer which brings about an opportunity for some initiative from a few jockeys. Pacodali is flying and ready to win. Gives some weight here but on ratings actually gets in ok. Especially considering some of the other higher raters are pretty average. Mr Money Bags brave at Flemington last start when hitting the front a touch too early. Maps well here.

Verdict: Pacodali
