Rail: True entire
Weather: Mild & cloudy
Track Condition: Good 4
Track Expectations: A true rail and dry track makes for fair racing at Bendigo.
Miss Elena wasn’t disgraced as favourite first up off a long break and should come on. That run gives her the advantage over Abraxos resuming from a spell, who may be awkwardly placed back on the rail.
Verdict: Miss Elena
Nerone should go forward from the wide gate and prove very hard to run down. He’s knocking on the door and the Banquo form stood up at Flemington. That ties in Laybuy. Whykayoh gets the drag across from wide and has shown class, but has had a long break.
With a lack of genuine speed (on exposed form) Our August Rose might get some cheap sections in front and can build on a solid debut. Look for Dondeska and Jealice charging home late.
Verdict: Our August Rose
This shapes as an A from B affair. Quantum Mechanic drops back from a Group 2 mile affair to a maiden and gets every hope from a middle draw. Chilula jumps from alongside the filly and can mount a challenge.
Verdict: Quantum Mechanic
Lots of interest in the lightly-raced son of Black Caviar, Prince Of Caviar. But Sagarra and Mumbles can mount a worthy challenge by letting things unfold in front of them – giving the Griffiths runner the nod with a promising resuming run under the belt.
All signs point to Living The Dream securing a gun on-pace run. She ground away well behind smart one over 1400m and is ready for the mile. Necessitas worked home okay first up and will be better for the run, the inside gate helps with this speed map. Sign Of Ussuri also has promise but the map is against.
Verdict: Living The Dream
Super Girl finished 4.4L from the winner in the Bendigo Cup and returns to the same track and distance in a BM64 with just 56.5kg. Progressive stayer Hutchinson, by Shocking, is the major danger.
Verdict: Super Girl
Good speed drawn across the track in a big field to round out the card. Giving Mickey Blue Eyes another go from the ideal draw, last start was too bad to be true and this is easier. The 3yo Widespread has obvious talent and can prove tough to run down.
Verdict: Mickey Blue Eyes e/w
