Racepal Warwick Farm Preview – 16th October 2019

Date: 16 October
Rail: +5m 1000-WP, +3m remainder
Weather: Fine & sunny, mid 20s
Track Condition: Good 4
Track Expectations: The +3m rail typically favours those on-pace/rails-in-run at Warwick Farm, where leaders can pinch a margin on the turn.

Race 1

Four of the seven having their first start. Montserrat has race-day experience but little was learned as he pulled up with issues – McDonald on means he must go okay. Elegant Grace and Harto are the best of the trailers.

Verdict: Montserrat

Race 2

The lead is up for grabs here. Zakat could be the one, 1300m first up is the query. Moreno was unlucky resuming while stablemate Rockarosa caught the eye, both arrive via the provincials.

Verdict: Moreno

Race 3

High Shine resumes after an impressive first Australian prep and is aided by the 3kg claim in this. If she’s within striking distance of likely leader Vitesse she should be too strong. Touch Of Mink dropps in grade and should also appreciate firmer going.

Race 4

An open staying race where Maybach makes an each-way case if he handles the weight in this grade. He’ll run them along as he likes. Breakdance and Executive Chairman will be best poised to strike from trailing positions.

Verdict: Maybach e/w

Race 5

Cardiff may have enough early toe to lead if they want. He’s back in more suitable company and was scratched from Saturday to run here. If Zoushack slots in from the alley it should be a good battle to the line.

Verdict: Cardiff

Race 6

Both Pancho and California Longbow battled on hard first up. The former was in the market but the latter was a much better run and won’t be working from the rails draw. But both have their work cut out to hold off the classy filly Romani Girl who is second up from a strong resuming win.

Verdict: Romani Girl

Race 7

Tough race to assess with five resumers. Expecting Invinciano trail any of Blazing Miss, Taken Everything, Oxford Angel and Martinique from the low draw and, with luck, get his chance to drive through upon straightening.

Verdict: Invinciano

Race 8

If Great Danger can cross to the front he’ll be hard to run past dropping back from the mile. Full Recognition presents with a fitness base from the last-start Kensington effort and should challenge from an ideal position in running, while resuming stayer Shuffle Up can figure late after settling rails in run.

Verdict: Full Recognition
