Date: 16 October
Rail: +10 entire course
Weather: 5-10mm rain Wednesday
Track Condition: Good 4 (downgrade expected)
Track Expectations: Despite the 10m rail, the track should be relatively fair. We may be racing in the Soft range if the forecast rain arrives on Wednesday.
Spanish Point may control the staying affair from the front and has a fitness advantage over fellow last-start winner Shared Ambition. However, the latter’s impressive first up effort has him the runner to beat if he handles the rise in trip second up.
Verdict: Shared Ambition
The first race may give us a guide to the strength of Bass’ second up effort. He’ll be making a run alongside Double You Tee from the latter half who has strung together consecutive wins. Bianco Nuovo may try and pinch it in front with Zahra in the zone.
Verdict: Bianco Nuovo
Wolfe should control this from the front with Oceanex kicking up from the inside to hold his back. But neither have been racing at the level of Yulong Prince who drops from a solid Underwood effort to this. He has the form, the jockey and can settle midfield from the low draw. Nelson is a market watch.
Verdict: Yulong Prince
Hilo brings Guineas Prelude form back to BM70 grade. That has stood up and he maps to trail a genuine tempo. Dresden Green is one of those pace-setters, up from 1100m to 1600m second up. Serengeti should appreciate any pace on and make a late bid with Serious Liaison.
Little splits the main hopes here. Amadeus may settle handier than his main rivals here and prove tricky to catch. He was tough at The Valley when Columbia and Usain Bowler were making ground. Bravo Tango makes a similar case while Maracaibo is a good stayer who can run well fresh.
Zoustyle was only just nabbed at this level last start and shouldn’t need to work as hard to lead this time around. That makes Haunted’s task to run past him this time that bit harder. Long Leaf drops back in trip and any pressure on suits him, so too Order Of Command.
The speed will be on out of the chute which will suit Exhilarates when they turn for home, so too Brooklyn Hustle if she handles the conditions. Condo’s Express is right in this if he settles early. The expected track downgrade works against Dubious while Niccovi arrives from WA on a mission.
Silent Roar maps to lead but suspect Aristocratic Miss, Consensus and Spanish Reef go forward and keep her company. Snogging presents at each-way odds as a proven second up improver who has form in good company. Rondinella looks ready third up and gets Rawiller again. She’ll have many lengths on Fidelia in the run, but that mare is also racing well. Good finish!
Verdict: Snogging e/w
