Dual Track Meeting: N
Track Type: Turf
Track Condition: Soft 5
We are on rain watch in Sydney and making any track predictions prior to Saturday will be rather tricky. Expecting that the outside part of the home track will be in play in the bigger fields.
Gotta Want It is shooting for four wins in a row. All three wins have come on soft ground, also. This is another challenge but horse is going so well. Black Wand off a little freshen rates highly but has a couple of things against. But I Know and My Tagoson chances as well.
Verdict: Gotta Want It
Aliferous could have gone very close in some black-type races in Brisbane during the Winter. Getting to her right setup now into this prep. Exemplar might need the sting out to race well and he gets that here you’d think. Master Of Wine is the one on the upward spiral to be with here though. Maps well just off the speed and should put them away.
Verdict: Master Of Wine
Greyworm should make its own luck from the low draw and I expect will be in this for a long way. Star Reflection a potential roughie. Sting out suits and will just need some luck from the barrier. Ranier should be closing late. Month between runs but has trialled and Collett isn’t a bad jockey booking to ride cold and try to come down the middle of the track.
Verdict: Ranier each-way
Kooweerup was entered late here but looks a leading chance for the Maher/Eustace team. Bottega lightly raced and on the upward spiral strikes a very winnable Group 2 here at just his third race start. Doubt the testing ground will be an issue and he rates highly.
Small field but this is a pretty good race. Microphone was not long ago one of the highest rated 2YO’s in Australia. Fitness on the testing track probably his major knock? Cosmic Force will relish the testing track and has the benefit of a lead up run. Accession will be strong late is probably next best,
Verdict: Cosmic Force
Interesting race this one, 4.40 the field at the early price look. Noire sets up better this time, form on heavy and close to ready to peak for the prep. Nettoyer flew home in the Epsom just last week and drops back to mares grade here. Dyslexic was gallant last start, this is no harder but the 1600m on a testing track is a concern.
Shadow Hero $1.70 vs Castelvecchio $4.80 over 2000m at level weights- that would have been a surprise three months ago! I think the latter is ready to rock and this setup on Saturday really suits. Quick Thinker has wet track form, Just Thinkin’ does not despite being by the same sire.
This is the race of the day, it is a shame it is a lead-up run though and not many will be fully wound up. The Inevitable is hard to line up here. That win at Moonee Valley to the eye was just superb, though. Mizzy and Fazika are both flying and hard to split and Zousain is big odds at almost 50-1. Keeping the powder dry here and playing small.
Verdict: Zousain each-way
Very open race to finish off the card at Royal Randwick. Poised To Strike trialled up well, good fresh form and wins on soft tracks are nice boxes to tick. Miss Invincible can be dangerous if she gets a soft lead. Cardiff is raw but untapped and a decent roughie here down in the weights
Verdict: Poised To Strike
