Racepal Eagle Farm Preview – 12th October 2019

Rail Position: True Entire Course.
Dual Track Meeting: N
Track Type: Turf
Track Condition: Good 4
Weather: Fine

It has been a long dry spell for rain in Brisbane but at the time of writing it looks like Saturday will be a day full of showers. As the day goes on you would think that means the rail will chop out a touch. The drier it is, the more the rails in run position will be of assistance.

Race 1

Oink maps well enough here and should be in this for a long way. Tatcee is top rater but I am little concerned with being three back the fence from that low draw on a slow speed. Sir Barnabus can lob into the 2B position and peel off in the straight, looks likely to be in the placings.

Verdict: Oink

Race 2

Bugger all exposed form to go off here but most of them have been to the trials at least. Dark Son has to be a chance as has had a run and raced on speed. This likely deeper/harder though. Strike is well placed given how well he trialled against the better crop in Sydney. Presume Pounce is scratched, brings good Sydney trial form too.

Verdict: Strike

Race 3

Expecting decent speed here. Jaggad Edge is a chance but the map is sticky. Steph Thornton will want to bounce well and come across to sit either 2B or 3B you’d think. Ready To Roam becomes near top pick if the rain hits hard. Howwonderfullifeis is the one here though. Upward spiral and just needs to get away cleanly to hold a spot toward the front.

Verdict: Howwonderfullifeis

Race 4

Elixir top pick here but the early price looks fairly tight. Le Mattan at the each-way odds looks better value. Third-up with the flattish run out of his system looks ready to deliver again. Beat The Beast comes into calculations if the track is wet.

Verdict: Le Mattan

Race 5

Market has got Gem Of Scotland about right here. Hard to see him starting much shorter than that 6/4 range unless scratchings come in. The market liked Ballistic Boy fresh, no exposure to rain affected ground yet, though. Xanthus next bets.

Verdict: Gem Of Scotland

Race 6

Advance Warning was building to that peak he ran last start. This is harder though and he looks short at $3.50. Holbrook at $8.50 in the early play looks a great each-way bet. Horse is consistent and strikes the right race to win in town. Speaking Bad next best. Prefer more on the place line given where he will be in the run.

Verdict: Holbrook each-way

Race 7

Smug Satisfaction is racing so well and I think we want to be with her again. Small query if it gets wet. Francisca looks set to peak now after a decent build up, each way chance.  Time To Play and Tycoon Street the other main chances in a very even race.

Verdict: Smug Satisfaction

Race 8

Scallopini has to spot them a start again, and again, will need some tempo to produce best effort. That being said, horse has a class edge and great figures on soft tracks. Goes on top here. Cadogan probably the opposite in that he wants it drier as does The Avenger. Nominating Fortensky as the other runner to keep on side here. Will be nearer the speed and can run well with sting out.

Verdict: Scallopini

Race 9

Deep Image did it end-to-end to win fresh at this track three weeks ago. He wants it dry and has drawn wide here up in the weights. Tambo’s Mate is the early rage in betting and it looks warranted. He is on the up and racing well, drawn to get a good run. I Dream Of Green an each-way chance in an otherwise even race.

Verdict: Tambo’s Mate
