Rail Position: True Entire Circuit
Dual Track Meeting: N
Track Type: Turf
Track Condition: Soft 5
One of the marquee nights for the Cranbourne racing fraternity. Rail True, no rain, not much wind and there are no excuses for this not to be the best surface possible. That being said, certainly a track where there is no disadvantage to be settling in the first four.
Four maidens in the first five races isn’t exactly exciting for the battlers on a big night but the quaddie legs are interesting races. We attack them below.
Lesage looks to be the most promising horse in the field but still very green. The Cranbourne circuit might not suit? Praire Fire back to 1000m looks suitable, if they go too fast will be very strong late. Roddandtodd is the one I’m willing to take on at the current prices first-up. Shotgun Rosie is the best of the rest but doesn’t have the ability of the 7 and the 1 so happy to leave out.

Had Oceanex drawn slightly softer she may have been a Diego Corrales here. Slight concern she has to make ground on a deck that doesn’t suit but rates so highly here and set to peak. We will add Annarbor to our quaddie as she will be on pace, is fit and will take advantage of any bias that is beyond what is projected if it appears. Happy to just focus on these two. Naivasha is next best but I think she may be one run short of that peak we need to be backing her on the back of.

Pretty keen on Montaser here who didn’t get a proper crack at them fresh off a nice trial prior. Well placed here. Aree Al went up too short. Raw horse with some ability that we want on-side for the purpose of the quaddie but is no value in the early play. Shifty Shamus is the one we want to throw in at odds. Think he has been building toward something and I love the run Thornton will get in behind the speed from barrier 3.

This is the race of the night in my view as there are a lot of betting angles. Cataracta broke the maiden in hot fashion on a soft track. Followed that with a decent effort at Sandown and then a poor run. Tough horse to mark but feel the track will suit and must go in the quadrella. Jamaican Hurry drops back to the right class of race here. Think she runs very well and must include. Splendid is interesting as she is a 4YO mare with just the two starts. Talented enough on what we have seen. Soaring Eagle needs to find the front or close to it to give them a shake here. Want her on side at double figures, though.

$100 for 208% of the quaddie for those after a little sweat!
