Racepal Randwick Kensington Preview – 9th October 2019

Date: 9 October
Rail: +3m entire course
Weather: Light showers
Track Condition: Soft 5
Track Expectations: The Kenso has been fair and after a month off should be in good condition. Some wear may emerge on the inside later in the day depending on rainfall.

Race 1

Waller runners dominate the market and one of them, Starla, is odds on early. There isn’t as much between her and Irish Angel as betting suggests and Willowheart, on debut, has trialed smartly. Respectful also has its first start and should set the tempo.

Verdict: Irish Angel

Race 2

Faretti and Ziedrich will race close to the speed. The former has had three trials in preparation for this but was fancied in his only start in the Silver Slipper. Ziedrich won’t want it too wet while Axe and Warp Speed have trialed well.

Verdict: Faretti

Race 3

A few go forward types at the 1550m including Hit The Target sharply up in trip, Brilliant Mind, Fabricator and Leningrad. The Waterhouse/Bott runner may hold the front and has fitness. Rancho Notorious is on the back up and will enjoy this all unfolding in front of him.

Verdict: Rancho Notorius

Race 4

Lewis is up in trip and should lead again, with Johnny Vinko also up in trip and settling handily from a low draw. Duchess of Lennox also gets the extra trip she’s been after and McDonald retaining the ride is a good sign. Zourhea and Bullet Fly may need to come wide in the run home.

Verdict: Dutchess of Lennox

Race 5

Camp Rifle is sure to be well supported. He wasn’t beaten far in a recent trial against a few better ones and may not necessarily be out the back here. McCormack and Kaecilius may be hard to catch if they control it in front. Cisco Bay can be expected to improve sharply second up.

Verdict: Camp Riffle

Race 6

Bigboyroy is still a maiden but only just missed first up ass a gelding in this grade and he’ll settle handily again from the draw in a race without much pace. Vienna Rain should also go forward from wide. That gives them a slight edge over last start winners Hooray Henry and Saint Ambrose.

Verdict: Bigboyroy

Race 7

Good race. Regimental Band got it done on resumption but this is harder and $2.10 early is tight. She’ll spot the likes of race-fit Alison Of Tuffy and Sophiella a start in running. Look for Super Oasis and Autumn making ground late in the piece.

Verdict: Alison of Tuffy

Race 8

Coterie was a big disappointment last prep and finds a suitable place to resume, albeit she may be made to work in running by the speedy Langiera, among others. Broken Arrows and Trumbull will both enjoy chasing that tempo while Trust Me isn’t the roughest from the inside alley.

Verdict: Coterie
