Date: 9 October
Rail: +5m 1600-1200, +6m remainder of course
Weather: A 40 degree stinker forecast for Tuesday and 30 for Tuesday with no rain
Track Condition: Soft 5 (improving)
Track Expectations: We’ll be on a Good track come race day courtesy of the hot weather. Leaders should enjoy a slight advantage with the firm surface, rail out and shorter Ipswich straight.

Race 1

Small field to start the day over 2180m. Shoot Again gets to this trip very quickly but the breeding says it will suit. Patriot Missile is hard fit and racing consistently.

Verdict: Shoot Again

Race 2

Only five acceptors in the 3yo race but all have Saturday potential. Beatsme is the likely leader, Patches got past him late last start. Spirit House can build on the first up win and Jim Byrne is a plus at the moment. Take Tea is a hope with clear running.

Verdict: Beatsme

Race 3

Only five acceptors again over the staying trip. Sheezinajam will be tough to catch with an unchallenged lead. Open Road and Momentum To Win came from off-pace to finish alongside one another at Doomben, the former was arguably a better run.

Verdict: Sheezinajam

Race 4

No third dividend once again. Frangipani Moon continues to finish in the money in Brisbane and has the turn of foot to run over the top. Ardoyne Road may be aided by a soft lead and Hollaback Girl will appreciate the return to Ipswich.

Verdict: Frangipani Moon

Race 5

Three of the six are last-start winners. Storm Harbour did it well here last time and should hold the front from the inside gate over Felzone, who toughed it out to win a Doomben maiden at 30-1. Tabard and Don’t Doubt Lara are the closers.

Verdict: Storm Harbour

Race 6

Purroni was a bit green first up at Doomben but stuck on okay and is the box ticker here. This is as good a chance as she’ll get. Alderman can hold the front and won’t lie down while Letsava Junglejuice will be in close attendance as well.

Verdict: Purroni

Race 7

Ex-Southerners Royal Phoenix (stable change) and Born Bad show up here. The former has had a long break but goes well enough to win this if he settles handily from the pole marker. Exactamente will take catching though.

Verdict: Exactamente

Race 8

Hit Snooze should cross them from wide and she’ll be doing her best to hold on late. Waller pair Obelos and Remeura will settle off pace and can challenge in the final furlong.

Verdict: Remeura
