Racepal Bendigo Preview – 9th October 2019

Date: 9 October
Rail: +5m entire course
Weather: Chance light showers
Track Condition: Good 4
Track Expectations: Expecting Bendigo to remain a Good 4 despite the cool weather and chance of light showers, with little significant rain expected before race day. The long home straight ensures all horses should get their chance.

Race 1

Banquo brings strong form lines from the Spring for this first up assignment. He will be ideally positioned midfield and should be making a run with Floreat Pica. Chilula is a market watch first up.

Verdict: Banquo

Race 2

Spring Bouquet was hard to miss first up after being hampered at the top of the straight. Cuban Toonite was gallant on speed there but there looks to be more pace and depth here. In Heart’s Wake needs a good ride from Kah.

Verdict: Spring Bouquet

Race 3

Sirkos should lead over the mile and a half with The Delphi, Vellaspride and Queen Leonora in attendance. If The Delphi is fit he may just have the edge. Most of the roughies can’t be written off in a race to be approached with caution.

Verdict: Sirkos

Race 4

Ex-UK stayer Heart Of Grace was off the map for a Perth trainer on Australian debut over 2000m at Rosehill and was beaten 70 lengths. Now here for A Freedman back to 1500m. Both Sovereign Award and Seewhatshebrings make more appealing cases.

Verdict: Sovereign Award

Race 5

Done By Me has runs on the board and will enjoy the slight drop in grade and lower draw. Most of her main rivals are last start Maiden winners, Astraeus has extra fitness among those and is suited at the trip. Merit in Ginzinger Allee’s Flemington effort too.

Verdict: Done By Me

Race 6

The speedy Backpedal will enjoy holding the rail rather than sitting OSL and gives them all one to run down. Varda makes the obvious case to run her down and will be presented at the top of the lane. Respecting Zoujea’s form lines and her claims are enhanced if Rumble Doll makes the leader work.

Verdict: Varda

Race 7

Geneva Diva sets the speed from out wide. Lightly-raced mare Sora secures an ideal passage first up and should have Got The Moves right at its hind quarter. The latter comes through a race that has stood up, both will be finishing strongly.

Verdict: Got The Moves

Race 8

Many chances in the last. Atone can land close to the speed and will be improved second up from a long break. Blenders Edition may be forced to go back from the draw and will be making ground with Sukoot while Ridgewood Drive will need to be good from the draw.

Verdict: Atone
