Racepal Cranbourne Preview – 18th September 2019

Date: 18th September
Rail: Out 9m
Weather: Fine
Track Condition: Heavy 8
Track Expectations: The track is drying out now and will be more of a Soft 6/5 on the day I think. The drier it is, the more likely it will play on pace with the rail out you’d think. If it is choppy then they may get off the rail in run and down the outside in straight more of a factor.

Race 1

Surreal Step looks ready to breakthrough. Ran into a very smart one first-up at Ballarat who has city winner written all over him. Will make own luck on speed. North Trek suited up to 1200m.

Race 2

Big watch on Smoke Bomb here who will likely be better suited over a mile and beyond but did enough in a trial to suggest can run well fresh for astute trainer Mick Kent. Nerone gets the good jockey and good map, hard to beat.

Race 3

Competitive race. Mutual Respect will thrive if it stays wet. Vigere is really interesting, much better than a one win from 14 tries type horse. Being a Fiorente likely a slow maturer and this could be the prep to go through his grades. Jumpout was sound.

Race 4

Vitani looks nicely placed here coming off a good run at Sandown. Orleans Rock has won twice on soft going, will relish the 1600m and looks one of the better swooping chances.

Race 5

Vungers has never run on Heavy in 20 starts so presume will not want it too wet but will be up the front in the run for Brad Rawiller. Meteor Light ticks boxes today for a good bet but drawn wide with the apprentice on is tricky. Fit and can control the race from the front if bounces well.

Race 6

Geneva Diva likes the sting out of the ground and maps well here. Lot of go forward types around here and a horse like Montaser fresh could be ridden cold and blouse them late.

Race 7

Street Icon is a bit lost at the moment and wouldn’t be surprised if with the gun jockey booking they go forward to shake things up here. Metronome will likely want track to get drying and if so comes into calculations nicely.

Race 8

The market missed Hidden Legend fresh, he is still a hard horse to put a number on here. Asateer drawn wide but likely rolls forward, a leading chance.
