Racepal Doomben Preview – 14th September 2019

Date: 14th September
Rail: +0.5m
Weather: Fine
Track Condition: Soft 5
Track Expectations: Expecting a typical Doomben track. No rain expected in the lead up being  a firm surface that suits runners settling in the first few. Wind should not be a big factor, either.

Race 1

Galtero looks short enough in the early markets. Boom Boom Epic should get first use of the track out in front for a good front-running rider. Clevanicc will spot them a start but has ability and on the minimum.

Race 2

Ready Set Boom for our girl Steph Thornton looks the leader, in a race of many chances he will at least make his own luck. Highway stepping up to 1600m looks a positive move while Rossmay is a lightly raced older mare who I get the feeling may go up the wrong price.

Race 3

Aeecee Tong Dee looks short enough! Leave me out of the $3.10 on the board at present with no scratchings. Smug Satisfaction won in smart fashion last start. A mare in form who can hold it now. Default top pick. Black and Tan and Francisca two run-on types who are in this.

Race 4

Like Mogador back to 1200m here with a good jockey taking the ride. Macewen may be ridden more positively from that inside alley. Watch betting moves from that Gollan stable.

Race 5

Meet Mr Taylor is a smart horse who trialled well leading into this. Clearly best horse in the race with a strong track and fresh record. Looks very hard to beat. Capital Connection perhaps the one to cause an upset on the freshen.

Race 6

Shalwa is a talent who has trialled really well leading into this. Frangipani Moon is still learning what it is all about but has shown talent too. They are the clear top two picks. Veranes will be spotting them, and most of the others a start!

Race 7

A lock jam at the top of the market here – they all have good chances too. The Odyssey might get control of the race from the front, though. Spirit House needs to make a big jump out of her maiden but she showed enough and you will get a price to find out.

Race 8

Langro is top pick, not sure I want to take 2.45 as per the early price, though. Plenty of other capable chances. Eminent loves this track and trip, maps nicely too. At the $21 on offer now, looks a lovely each-way option.

Race 9

Order Again resumes as a Group 3 winner but has proven to be more of an Eagle Farm horse. Manaya will spot them a start and need luck. The Avenger gets a good spot midfield and will be in the mix while Sword Of Justice is now fit and ready to give it a shake if he can control the race from the front as he likes to do.
