Meeting: Ipswich
Date: 11th September
Rail: True
Weather: Fine
Track Condition: Good 4
Track Expectations: Warm and rail true, expecting it to suit leaders and those on the rails in the run.

Race 1

Small field and first use of the track, finding the leader is a good starting point. That might be Dragon Inthe NOrth or Lilero? Rerun probably the best swooper in a pretty average maiden.

Race 2

Think Steph Thornton is the right jockey for Connoisseur. He is no world beater, though. The Tenor has never had a start at Ipswich but I get the feeling the course will suit his style. Top pick, comes down to price.

Race 3

Telecom Danewin will roll forward I think, how much work he does early may be one of the keys to the race. Precizzling should get the suck run in behind the speed. Good trainer/jockey combination and one of the leading chances.

Race 4

Well now, do your best here! My Boy Sam maps perfectly for an astute trainer. Fa Fa looked ok in his first few starts. Resumes here but no rider declared yet, they may choose to scratch from the wide barrier. Getyourgreyon draws wide and Byrne has a decision to make in terms of tactics. Went forward last start at the Sunshine Coast and did enough to be competitive here.

Race 5

Decent enough race this one. Six Stigma might not find the front but will be near the speed and should be a leading chance. Marmaris needs to hold a spot and if Robbie Fradd can, it is a chance. Nick The Skip is having a good prep and does map perfectly to track the leaders.

Race 6

Some pretty average stayers here, hard to believe it is a Class 3! Expert Reply is in consistent form and maps very well near the speed. Has to be close to top pick. Strike Sika draws the inside and will be strong late after getting an energy conserving ride.

Race 7

Sticking with David Vandyke again here. Maloney will need to find some cover from gate 10 but the run first-up was really good. Lola’s Diamond can sit in the 1 x 1 slot and go close, Dee Cee Delights the potential leader with no weight on the back.

Race 8

Bit of a speed battle expected here. Cuzco is one who will look to go forward and Jim Byrne is the type senior jockey needed for the job. Hi Fiver comes back to a fairly soft midweek race, well placed. Solar Star gets a claim coming up from Victoria. The ex-Freedman galloper is well bred, Gollan is the man for the job.
