Racepal Bendigo Preview – 11th September 2019

Meeting: Bendigo
Date: 11th September
Rail: Out 9m
Weather: Fine
Track Condition: Soft 5
Track Expectations: Soft 5 now but with no rain around it will just come down to how much they water the track. Hopefully not too much! Rail is out a fair way and it somewhat negates the wide draw advantage from the sprint trips. Expecting a pretty fair track. If they over water, down the outside likely best.

Key runners and ones to watch:

  • Rat With Goldtooth Decent mare for a very very good trainer. She ran 2nd at Mildura two starts ago and rated the house down in Open class. She then, had the typical flat run after. Given 25 days since that run expect she can bounce back and run much better this time around.
  • Chicago Cub Super interesting runner! Broke maiden impressively in February before rating well and running 2nd to Testifier. Failed after that in a good city race and was sent for a spell. The now gelding resumes in a BM64 and it just reeks of a cheap kill and a progression through the ratings.

Race 1

Deep Field juveniles are flying and Meteorite’s jumpout on the 23rd August was superb. He can win on debut although the low draw is a small negative. Order Of Fury did enough on debut and gets the gun jockey booking.

Race 2

Court Painter jumped out well at Bendigo last week and gets Linda on. Expect it goes forward, an ok roughie? Virtuous will break her duck eventually, a chance to be here.

Race 3

Miss Harriette should be ready to run to her best. Well placed here and has a suitable speed map. Stable is struggling, though. Sebsilk should have no issues handling the mile but does have a tricky gate. The Mockingbird jumped out well before sound debut. Distance jump should be ok, chance.

Race 4

Good little race this. Miami Bound closed really strong to win here last start. Blue Jean Baby doesn’t tick the SP profile box but has a bit to like otherwise. Frazil maps to sit handy and will take some running down.

Race 5

Really excited to see Chicago Cub go around here. If the horse shows up, it will be game over. Magnicity trialled ok leading in, Havadash isn’t drawn ideally for a swooper. Heka Express is the other of interest. She has had some issues but showed some ability. You would expect with Baster on and that low draw that they push forward.

Race 6

Fairly thin race this with Somerset Maugham scratched – blackbook it. Shepard is progressive enough to go through the grades, maps well here. Moss ‘n’ Bolt is a chance if Team Gelagotis send him forward.

Race 7

If Anubis gets a start here, will be a key runner to watch. Big jump in class but looks promising. Tavidance resumes over 1600m but did have a few trials leading in. Stealthy Lucas drops in grade technically and should improve from the fresh run in a BM78.

Race 8

Rat With Goldtooth highlighted earlier is the runner of interest here. Be surprised if we don’t see a bounce back to form. Oceanex in mares grade suits, as does the step in distance. Tides maps really nicely but is short enough in the early market.

Race 9

Big field at the time of writing. Hurricane Fighter resumes off a decent trial, showed plenty in his brief career and like the draw for him. The Card Players will press forward from the low barrier while Mean Mister is yet to win from eight tries on a good track. Four wins and three placings in eight tries on soft or heavy.
