Track Expectations: Little bit of rain around over the next few days so monitor the track. I expect that it will not get worse than a Soft 5 though. Expecting fair conditions.

Key runners:

  • Jagged Edge First-up, giving most of them weight and he is gone up sub $3 but still looks a huge chance. Showed plenty in his first prep and recent trial win over smart Vandyke horse Alligator Blood was sound.
  • Thy Kingdom Come Dual acceptor (Rosehill) that is holding plenty of market percentage at the moment in Race 9. Huge chance, be careful betting early in this race.

Ones to watch:

  • Steph Thornton talented jockey who is up from Victoria on loan with Steven O’dea. Her claim is pretty handy and she is metro calibre in QLD. She has already ridden a few winners and is one to watch over the next few weeks.
  • Our Girl Silke is setting up pattern wise to peak. Short enough in the early play given the emergencies and her racing pattern. One to back Best Tote or Best Of The Best.

Race 1

Arguably the best race of the day! Speed map is busy like most 1000m races. #6 Better Thinking maps to stalk the speed with a quality jockey booking, hard not to like. #1 Niedorp and #1 Zac Attack both capable but both likely to be involved in the early speed battle.

Race 2

#1 Whypeeo was a rough watch for punters last start. Gives them weight but is certainly capable. At the $3.20 early price happy to be against Invincible Gangster coming off a peak run. The old boy #5 Tisani Tomso fit now and ready to do something third-up at odds.

Race 3

Staying race where weights will be important. #7 Ocean Addict fit and ready to run her peak but is no world beater. #6 Makdanife consistent but rather limited also. #2 Jakes Hill looks pretty short in the early play given the weight he gives the other two. #3 Sensational Ally is the on-pace roughie worth a ticket.

Race 4

Despite the fact that this race is full of average horses we have to bet around Looks Like Elvis if he is still below $2 in a capacity field come jump time. #5 Magnufighter the consistent on-pacer the obvious alternative

Race 5

Decent race but hard to get overly excited about them. #9 So Spirited will enjoy the weight claim from Stephanie Thornton. #2 Sword of Justice maps well like always but is pretty limited in terms of his spot in the handicap cycle. The Waller pair #5 Forensky and #6 The Avenger are well found.

Race 6

#1 Jagged Edge won twice in his first prep before failing to fire in a stakes race. Recent trial win was solid, he can carry the weight and win this. Maps sweetly for James Orman. Seven of the accepted 17 are first-up so expect the mounting yard to factor into pricing late.

Race 7

Hoping #10 Dreamtimer stays double figures as he maps to get a cosy time and can improve off the first up run and settle a little closer. A few key chances resuming in #11 Francisca and #13 Drumadoir. Both winning chance and both horses we want to see parade

Race 8

#8 Our Girl Silke ready to run well but do think she will ease in price (relative to scratchings and lowering marketing percentage). #16 Devils Marbles will need some luck from the draw but should race near the speed and rates well.

Race 9

Capacity field to round at the quaddie! #11 Thy Kingdom Come is also accepted in Sydney. Obviously hard to beat if ends up here. #12 Tokoriki Lad and #9 Impasse were two runners at decent odds that rated ok and would want them both in the quaddie.
