A very unpredictable week 3 saw short price favourites Spurs and Man United lose at home, while the top 2 from last year flexed their muscles to show that this season may already be down to a 2 horse race. Man City and Liverpool were both victorious 3-1 whilst Aston Villa secured their first Premier League win since 2016 and Frank Lampard finally got his first win as Chelsea manager.
The North London Derby takes centre stage this week with Arsenal $2.34 hosting their rivals Spurs $2.84. In the corresponding fixture last year Arsenal won 4-2, even after Spurs taking an early 2-1 lead. Spurs haven’t won in the league at the Emirates since 2010 and coming off a shock uninspiring loss against Newcastle on the weekend it is a struggle to see them bucking that trend. One of my favourite football bets personally is both teams to score and 7 out of the previous 9 North London Derby’s at the Emirates both teams have scored. $1.47 for it to happen again seems value.
The season maybe only 3 games in, but it is already shaping up to be a 2-horse war again with both Man City and Liverpool looking strong. Man City welcome Brighton to Etihad this week and are unsurprisingly very short priced at $1.08. City have played Brighton 4 times in Premier League history for 4 wins. Liverpool travel to Turf Moor to take on Burnley, which should be a competitive game and as mentioned, being a fan of both teams to score, the last 5 matches between these teams, both have scored. At $1.9 I will be having a small piece.
The first game of the week sees Southampton host Manchester United at 9:30pm Saturday Night. United coming of an embarrassing loss against Palace where they missed another penalty will be looking to get back to the form that saw them beat Chelsea 4-0 in the opening weekend. Chelsea play another newly promoted team this week as Sheffield United visit Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are short price favourites at $1.34 to get the job done. Tammy Abraham has looked every bit a Premier League player early on in his career, anytime goal scorer at $1.97 would be my bet for this game.
Other games include the only team without a point, Watford, heading to St James’s Park to take on Newcastle. Undefeated Leicester host Bournemouth which I think is another game for both teams to score @ $1.64. Palace and West ham look to build on good performances last week as they host Aston Villa and Norwich. On Sunday the winless, but undefeated, Wolves head to Goodison Park to take on Everton.
Other than the North London Derby not many other games really jump off the page as must watch, with the odds suggesting there will be a few one-sided games, but we know the odds are never always right.
Just a both teams to score multi for me this week:
Liverpool v Burnley BTTS $1.9
Arsenal v Spurs BTTS $1.47
Leicester v Bournemouth BTTS $1.64
West Ham v Norwich BTTS $1.45
$20 returns $132.84
